Broken, but not defeated

Another crafted glass sculpture, inspired by my own x-ray, tells the story of a leg that endured countless surgeries—its iron within almost an artwork of its own.

This piece got accidentally broken, so I decided to embraced it, letting it echo the theme of my exhibition: “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”

Repaired with 24-karat gold, using the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, the cracks now shine as symbols of resilience and transformation. This philosophy teaches us to see scars not as flaws but as testaments of endurance and beauty.
Kintsugi, rooted in wabi-sabi philosophy, honors imperfection and the beauty of time’s passage. It transforms brokenness into art, revealing resilience and strength within life’s flaws. It is a tangible mirror of my condition and the narrative of my life. Through brokenness, we can heal, grow, and radiate even brighter
